All About Break Rooms…

Community Coffee with a Keurig Coffee Maker

The break room in the office is one of the most important places in the office. It’s not only a place for refreshment, but also for socializing, and where we spend at least one to two meals a day. It’s sometimes as important as the kitchen in your home.

As an Executive Assistant and Events Coordinator, I do my best to ensure that employees are stocked with drinks and basic staples that employees like and need.

Coffee – The elixir of life is coffee, and we are serious about our coffee. We have two different coffee makers in our break room that we use all day long. A Bunn coffee pot and a Keurig K-Cafe Special Edition Single Serve Coffee Latte & Cappuccino Maker.

Community Coffee is our office favorite. I purchase K-cups of Cafe Special, Breakfast Blend Southern Pecan, and Dark Roast and have them auto shipped every month to us. Now, during the holidays, we like to add on Mardi Gras King Cake, American Classic, and whatever Fall blend they advertise. Right now, the new flavor we are enjoying is Vanilla Waffle Cone. It is delicious!

Now, because I will go without anything in life except coffee, I keep us stocked in coffee and sweet tea. Keurig has a good selection of coffees, teas, hot chocolates, and ciders for year around. Our office enjoys hot chocolate and apple cider during the cooler months of the year

Recently, with the warmer weather, I checked out Green Mountain Coffee Roasters Brew Over Ice Vanilla Caramel Coffee on the Keurig’s website and ordered a couple of boxes of the Vanilla Caramel and Hazelnut Cream. I will give them an “A” on their cold brew coffee blend. We are about to open a box of Hazelnut Cream.

Another canned iced coffee that I like to keep on hand is La Colombe, Latte Draft Triple, 9 oz. cans.

AND-

Snacks – It’s around 2 pm, you need a snack! Now, what is there to snack on? Well, there are big containers of Peanut Butter, Saltine Crackers, bags of Peanuts, Mayo, Candy all over the office, some Dessert someone has made and brought to the office, and some Cheese, Butter, Ranch, all sorts of Dressings, and Condiments. What to have? Well, being that we are in Louisiana, I can tell you what I will probably have. Peanut Butter, Honey, and Crackers, or hold your seat belt! Crackers and Mayo. I know, I know, you probably gagged a little, but try it. Oh, and before you go eating plain old cold Saltines. Heat them in the oven. Mayo is right up next to sweet tea. You run out of Mayo, Cheese, Butter, or Peanut Butter, and it’s like a war cry. It seems like we are down to air and water.

During the summer months, we have many events occurring, so I do not have to worry about snacks. We have food everywhere. It’s snack heaven, so it seems. Yummy for the tastebuds and bad for the waist and hips!

There is a snow cone stand, cotton candy, nachos, hamburgers, chicken strips, candy, popsicles, ice cream, catered meals three meals a day. I want to say give me coffee and let me starve a few days. But, by the time I get there, I am too tired to refuse “Snack Time.”

Jelly Beans

Snack time means Natchitoches meat pies, boudin and a snow cone with cream, or Juju comes in the office all happy and cheery and announcing, “I made an Ice Cream Cake, who wants a piece” in the middle of a hot summer afternoon.
